Godly Wisdom Brings Happiness

Scripture

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. (Proverbs 3:13-15 NIV)

 

Observation

KJV or NKJV versions have the word, "Happy" instead of "Blessed" in verse 13. Having wisdom is certainly a blessing as the verse teaches that one who finds wisdom will be joyful (happy) and have understanding in many things. This path from wisdom to joy is a biblical virtue. For when wisdom enters your heart, knowledge will fill you with joy (Prov 2:10). Proverbs 13 goes on to say that one who has wisdom will benefit far more than having precious gems such as silver or rubies and is beyond comparison.

Application

We chase many things in life we think may bring us happiness, only to realise there seems to be an emptiness that no amount of riches can fill. If we seek and have the wisdom of God, we are not distracted by the struggles of life but instead, learn to yield to the heart of God. Only then, can we enjoy His peace and joy.

Prayer

 

Lord, I desire to have Your wisdom to understand every situation in Your perspective. May You grant me Your wisdom that in turn will bring forth joy into my life.
