Worship & Music Ministry Retreat
On 1 October (Saturday), about 20 worship team members gathered for a 1-day retreat. The theme of the worship team retreat was "Streams of Living Water". A devotion entitled "The God Of How Much More" (Luke 11:5-8) was shared in the morning after worship. Thank God that despite the heavy rain in the morning, it stopped just before the members ventured outdoors for a time of personal retreat with God. Rev Barnabas Chong (Pastor-in-Charge of Cairnhill Methodist Church) shared a devotion on "Streams of Living Water" (John 7:37-39) in the afternoon. He reminded the retreat participants that as worship ministers, they must first personally (and as a worship team) experience the freshness, spontaneity, life and the transformation of the Holy Spirit. Only then will the Holy Spirit in them be fresh, flowing, life-giving and life-changing, just like streams of living water. He also exhorted them to pray desperately for the congregration to encounter God and in turn to experience the freshness, spontaneity, life and transformation of the Holy Spirit. The retreat participants rounded up the session by dedicating themselves as they sang the good old hymn, "Be Thou My Vision".
