Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry started off in 2002 as a bunch of youths who got together for Bible study, having found themselves too old for the Children's Ministry.  This handful of youths were mostly schoolmates, and they gathered weekly after the Adults' Worship to study God's Word and catch up with one another, but never did they expect that it was actually the start of an exciting journey for the youths of Agape Methodist Church in which God was going to do a mighty work!

From those humble beginnings, this young Ministry has now evolved into a sizeable group of youths from all different cultures and upbringings who enjoy having fun together while desiring to grow deeper in the Lord.

The Agape Youth Ministry (AYM) desires to be a ministry that loves and worships God first, expressing that love in service to others, and obeying the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations, beginning with their immediate circle of influence. It reaches out to the youths in and around the Jurong area through the following activities and events:

Ministry Focus

REVIVAL

If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. - 2 Chronicles 7:14

Morning Prayer Sessions

At AYM, we believe prayer is the backbone of our Youth Ministry. As such, our Morning Prayer Sessions on Sunday are designed to get our youths into the habit of praying for the upcoming Youth Ministry program on a weekly basis. It also strengthens the faith of our youths as they see God's hand at work through their weekly prayers.

9am, every Sunday morning, Training Room 2

Youth Camp

We have our Youth Camp annually! It is full of wacky activities, ample opportunities to bond and also intense sessions where we learn more about God in different ways! Our last camp was recently held in June 2010 where we had the following activities:

Icebreakers/Team Games:

A short but fun time of ice-breaking games where we could get to know each other better, and get each other to do hilarious forfeits! This was followed by a series of interactive team games which tested our unity and bonded us together.

Workshops:

A new station-by-station structure we tried out to pass on the word of God to the campers was quite successful. The campers enthusiastically participated at each station which comprised quizzes, reflections, confession and unity-related games.

The second workshop was aimed at augmenting our knowledge of how much Jesus had sacrificed for us, hence helping us to better understand how much He has given to us.

Captain's Ball Tournament:

An intense captain's ball competition, where each of our three youth teams (The Ark, The Winning Team and God's Army) played their hearts out trying to come out on top. It tested our unity and teamwork, essentially seeing which team worked better together. The winner was The Winning Team.

Auction Supper:

A new idea never before tried in Agape, we planned an auction where each team bid for yummy items for their own suppers. It was filled with surprises and unexpected blessings.

Amazing Race:

This 6-hour long race saw the Agape youth running all over Singapore in an effort to complete a grueling 8-station race. And at each station a daunting task awaited, these included forming the word "FORGIVE" with their bodies and designing an "Agape Youth Camp ‘08" logo on the beach of East Coast Park.

BBQ Night:

An overwhelming amount of food was prepared in advance for this last-night party bash in celebration of the youths having come so far in the camp. Even never-before-seen creations of flavored ice dessert were provided!
